Saudade (noun; Portuguese) — a deep, nostalgic longing for something or someone that is absent; a wistful, melancholic sense of missing.
In 2014 I traveled to Brazil after meeting a bunch of really great Brazilians who made me curious about the country. I quickly fell in love with Rio — the culture, the food, the people.
But it was the country's versatile landscape, its warmth, and the many lovely people I met along the way that made me feel right at home.
I came back in 2016 for a short visit with friends and to see some new corners of this vast land. I would go back any time.
