Awe (noun; English) — reverence in the presence of something vast; the feeling of standing close to a force much larger than yourself.
During my time in São Paulo, some friends and I decided to take a trip down to Buenos Aires, with a stop at the Iguazú Falls. The night we arrived, a storm broke, and by morning the water was running thick with red soil — a colour I've never seen in water before or since, somewhere between rust and pink. I was so mesmerized by the colour and the sheer might of it. The falls were enormous and loud and completely indifferent to us.  Standing that close to them was one of the most extraordinary things I've felt.
